What nearby airports should I use if I'm trying to get from Indianapolis to Mannheim, Germany?

I think Mannheim's airport is small, therefore ticket prices are more expensive. Should I fly into Frankfurt or another airport? Also, should I fly out of Chicago Midway or O'hare/ Cincinnati, etc. for a cheaper flight?
