Why would the police suddenly start giving parking tickets to people that stop at my tag sale?

I've had sales from time to time for many years and never had anyone that stopped receive a parking ticket. This past weekend, the cops were going by my house every 10 to 15 minutes (local and sheriff patrol cars) and giving parking tickets to anyone that stopped. It seems almost like a persecution. What could be a reason for this sudden crackdown?
