Sorry to hear about that. At 17 you are still a minor and legally beholden to your parents. However, the law is not too interested in chasing 17 year old's, and I doubt you would be considered a run away with your whereabouts known. Bottom line, you need to decide if you want to push the issue before you turn 18. You are still under your parents unless you are emancipated. Not sure what that involves, but you would have to petition the court. Keep in mind that you cannot legally enter into any sort of contract until you are 18. Your 18 year old friend might be violating his or her lease by letting you, an unrelated minor, move in with them. Think it over. Good luck in your decisions.
